Pay Attention

Since most of today's students can appropriately be labeled as "Digital Learners", why do so many teachers refuse to enter the digital age with their teaching practices? This presentation was created in an effort to motivate teachers to more effectively use technology in their teaching.

Creating Digital Lessons

To ensure a brighter future for students, educators are examining their traditional practices in an effort to kindle a spirit that unites a multitude of technological resources into a well-designed technology based interactive learning environment. In the near future, technology-based learning applications will put more diverse educational resources at the fingertips of teachers, while simultaneously connecting them with the availability to create and to integrate content. These resources for combining technology into traditional content are presently on the verge of exploration and will soon emerge as a new paradigm shift for teaching and learning. With the emergence of digital media, interactive whiteboards, open source software applications, and social networking internet resources will soon become standard features of every classroom environment, teachers are now discovering innovative ways to create technology based interactive lessons .

The methods for developing digital lessons outlined in this presentation have the potential to become embedded in many everyday learning activities. For teachers, "The Twelve Strategies for Developing Technology-based Lessons" will offer access to a broad array of combining digital lesson into interdisciplinary content that completes a seamless learning experience. No longer will content be segmented and delivered in multiple strands, but it will now be combined into presentations that will expand the learning opportunities for all students.

The tutorials presented on this wiki will demonstrate how to design a digital lesson. In each of the tutorial sessions, explanations will be provided to expand ideas and strategies for integrating technology-based, multi-media resources into the classroom. The focus of these tutorials will allow teachers to see, use, and understand the educational benefits of integrating technology into a well designed lesson.

Google Applications and Tools for Educators

"Teachers at all levels are expected to be on the cutting edge of technology and Internet education, despite the level of technical or computer training they’ve received. But with these Google applications and tools, creating websites, collaborating with students and other teachers in real-time over the Internet, and staying organized through your cell phone has become a quick and easy way to bring technology to students, find more relevant information from specialized search engines and utilize multimedia tools to make learning more fun and a teacher’s job just a little bit less hectic."
